Shooting At Mexican Resort Leaves 7 Dead

A bar in Mexico’s Caribbean coast resort city, Playa del Carmen, was the scene of a shooting that resulted in the deaths of seven men.

The shooting happened at the “Las Virginias” bar which resides in the low-income section of the city and is not necessarily near the tourist heavy beachside.

Six men were found dead at the scene, with a seventh dying at a local hospital. One man at the bar was wounded but survived the attack, he described to police how he was drinking beer with friends when the gunfire began.

Currently, none of the attackers have been identified.

This marks a disturbing trend of violence coming to plague the Caribbean coast. While such areas like Cancun had been able to operate without fallout with Mexico’s infamous drug cartels, it seems like that is unfortunately changing.
